Apple hinted that the body of the iPhone 7 in Jet Black color is easily scratched

The New iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus instead of the usual Space Gray came in two new color options – Black and Jet Black

To be honest, the iPhone 7 in Jet Black color looks just fine. All process of making such a beautiful black color is quite complicated. As usual from making such a simple thing like back panel of the smartphone, Apple made a real piece of technical art. This is one of the reasons why we love Apple. Just take a look at this video.

Impressive isn’t it? But as always there is one thing…

According to apple:

“The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.”

What does it mean? Quite possible that after some short period of time the shiny gloss panel of the smartphone will be fully covered by little scratches.

Maybe some of us remember situations with iPod classic when glossy mirror back of iPod looks like this in few weeks.

iPod classic

We hope that this is not true and the new iPhone will be quite resistant to scratches.

Either way, we’ll find out it very soon with the first tests for scratch resistance.
